David Stanley
Head of Individual and Family Philanthropy Practice
David Stanley is the Head of the Individual and Family Philanthropy Practice at ViaNova. He leads a seasoned team that supports ultra-high-net-wealth (UHNW) donors—and their advisors, grantees, and partners—to advance social change. David brings 21 years of experience as a philanthropic advisor and nonprofit leader and is deeply passionate about helping donors turn their visions for impact into reality.
Prior to joining ViaNova, David spent a decade as a consultant to individual and family philanthropists, institutional foundations, and nonprofit leaders. He supported their grantmaking efforts, guided their strategic planning at key inflection points, and helped them launch and scale 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) initiatives across areas including education, democracy, climate change, and economic opportunity.
David spent the first half of his career in leadership roles at Teach For America. He began his career as a sixth-grade math teacher in Harlem, New York City.
David earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Yale University and a Master of Science in teaching from Pace University. He is also an active member of P150, a global network of philanthropy advisors dedicated to helping their clients learn, collaborate, and give more impactfully.
David lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
