About us
We bring evidence-based practices from decades of implementing programs with donors, nonprofits, policymakers, and other partners.
How we work
At ViaNova, we partner with clients to make sense of complexity and turn ambitious goals into real, lasting progress.
We bring the following to all of our work:
-
Our work is shaped by years of experience across philanthropic strategy, governance, and implementation—and informed by relationships and hard-won insight built across the world and across issues. We help clients pursue bold goals with confidence, drawing on what we've seen work (and not work) to find approaches that are right for their specific situation.
-
We engage the full range of stakeholders—organizations, partners, grantees, and those closest to the work—and create space where diverse perspectives can surface and shared purpose can take hold. We take the time to understand people's motivations, roles, and relationships so that everyone can contribute where they add the most value and work together towards outcomes that last.
-
In complex work, decisions rarely feel straightforward. We help by bringing clarity to what matters most, surfacing key choices and tradeoffs so that progress doesn't stall. We help design the governance and processes that support timely, well-informed decisions, ensuring that conversation leads to clear direction.
-
We're oriented toward action from the start. By staying grounded in what it actually takes to implement, we help translate strategy into concrete next steps and stay alongside clients to maintain momentum, reduce unnecessary burden, and build the structures that make progress sustainable over time.
-
We think of strategy as something that grows and evolves. We build in regular moments to gather input from partners, grantees, and communities at the center of the work, and create space to reflect and make sense of what we’re learning, so that approaches can shift as circumstances change. We pay close attention to what's resonating and where energy is building and we help clients adjust course with confidence.
History
ViaNova partners with philanthropists to bring about their visions of a more just and sustainable world. We help foundations, corporations, individuals, and families make sense of complexity and turn ambitious goals into lasting change.
Our firm is built around two practices where we see the greatest opportunity to drive lasting philanthropic impact: supporting individuals and families in their giving, and managing collaboratives and initiatives. ViaNova is purpose-built for this work, drawing on first-hand experience at the forefront of the philanthropic sector.
The ViaNova team brings decades of experience shaping philanthropic best practices. Over the course of long careers advising donors, foundations, impact investors, and corporations, our advisors have helped design effective donor collaboratives, build community-centered grantmaking programs, apply family systems approaches to multigenerational giving, and structure complex initiatives involving policy, advocacy, and multiple types of capital. That depth of experience—and the expansive networks that come with it—is what we bring to every client engagement.
ViaNova’s roots run deep. Our founding team spent more than two decades building one of the philanthropic sector’s leading advisory practices, partnering with individuals, families, nonprofits, impact investors, foundations, and corporations. We founded ViaNova to channel that institutional knowledge into building something that meets the increasing complexity of our sector and our world.
We are proud to be part of the Vital Impact family of companies, alongside Redstone Strategy Group and Kiwi Partners. Though each firm operates independently, we share a commitment to strengthening the philanthropic sector. We regularly collaborate to bring clients the full range of strategic, operational, and advisory expertise they need.
